この法人は、地元住民に対して、子供も大人もふれあいながら、自然に親しみ、科学し、ものづくりを楽しみ、生活を豊かにすることができる場の創出、および、地域市民活動団体への支援や地域の宝（自然、人、もの、こと）の保全に関する事業を行うことで、これらを実践する「まちのふれあい科学館」運営に係わる問題の改善や解決を図り、他との共生を大切にする持続可能な社会発展の向上と次代を担う人材の育成増進に寄与することを目的とする。
