この法人は在宅生活をしている精神障害者に対して、保健、医療、福祉の増進を図る活動に関する事業を行い、在宅生活が円滑且つ有意義に過ごせるように援助し、ひいては地域社会全体の保健、医療、福祉の増進に寄与することを目的とする。なお、「共同生活援助運営事業」に関しては、知的障害者も対象とする。
