この法人は、中川小十郎が徹底した実学志向により、”昼間に働く人びとが学べる夜間学校”を設立し、西園寺公望の立命館をうけつぎ、近代教育のための大学が立命館憲章となって結実させ、広く全国に人間形成に努め、貢献した功績をたたえ、顕彰するとともに生涯学習の推進を図ることを目的とします。
