東南アジアの遺跡や伝統文化財に対しての保護保存の活動及び保護保存を行う東南アジア各国人（研究者、学生など）の研究援助及び教育指導に関する事業を行い、東南アジア各国人や日本国民、さらには世界各国の人が東南アジアの遺跡や文化財の保護、保存、研究、教育の理解や関心を深めることに寄与すること。
