この法人は、水俣病被害者の人権と権利を守り、医療、福祉、生活に係わる諸問題に協働で取り組むとともに、被害の全容解明と被害補償に取り組む。また、加害責任の検証を行い、その教訓を伝え、産業公害等の被害者らと協力して、その権利回復と公害廃絶の活動に寄与することを目的とする。
