Toneriko Data Report 2026
How many NPOs in Japan can you actually reach?
In the public data of Japan's national NPO portal, contact details are available for only a small share of organizations (about 2,800, roughly 6%, as of February 2026). Even if you wanted to contact an organization when you needed help, you had to search for each one separately. This report shows how much of that gap Toneriko has filled.

What "reachable" means
An active NPO corporation for which Toneriko has confirmed at least one of phone, email, or website from public sources.

Up from 57.5% in April 2026. In September we removed contact details that had been added by mistake (such as prefectural portal phone numbers). This figure puts accuracy before volume.

In more than half of the prefectures, at least 3 in 4 organizations are reachable (median 77.5%).

How to read these numbers
What they show
- About 2 in 3 NPO corporations in Japan can be reached through Toneriko.
- The national public data alone does not lead you to contact details for most organizations (only about 6% have them).
- Toneriko removes incorrect contact details and lists only confirmed ones.
What they do not show
- Differences between prefectures reflect how far Toneriko's confirmation work has progressed — not the quality of organizations or local governments.
- Organizations whose contacts we have not found are still active and share information in their own ways. What is missing is a way to search them all in one place.

What comes next
Confirmation work has not caught up in large cities with many organizations. Our next goal is to fill in urban contact details without compromising accuracy. We will also keep growing an entrance where, when you describe your situation, local organizations, guides to national procedures, consultation desks, and a one-page memo for the office all come together.
